Students were given time in class to work on creating something from their Kindness Week checklist!

Today we completed our door decorations. Our theme for our classroom door is, "Kindness is the Answer to Everything." Students created pockets with different themed compliments that we placed inside the pockets. People are encouraged to come by our door, take a compliment and hand it out to someone else. We have several math themed "kindness" phrases such as:
The students got very creative!! Students have been learning about the human body in science. Last week they learned that when the eyes see something, the brain registers that and sends messages to the body. Our experiment this week included the class partnering up and dropping a ruler through their partner's hands. The partner had to catch the ruler as quick as possible to see their reaction time. Students played a fraction game with a partner. They chose two cards to create fraction pieces. Their fraction pieces had to be colored to make a whole fraction. They worked on their understanding of fractions and equivalent fractions. I am so impressed with all of the hard work the students put in to their math projects. They came out way better than I would have ever imagined! I have more photos to post, I'm just waiting for them to finish loading onto my computer. Fourth graders have been so busy in the past few weeks! In math last week we focused on factors, multiples, and prime and composite numbers. In ELA we have been focusing on Poetry and elements of poems. This week we began a new unit about Heroes. We will be talking a lot about character traits that Heroes have. In writing students are writing an 8 sentence paragraph on their opinion using this prompt, "Should plastic straws be banned?" Students read an article to help them form an opinion based on facts. In Religion we have been learning a lot about Advent and various Christmas symbols.
I apologize for not sharing pictures, I usually share much more! I have been having issues with my photos downloading on my computer. The "cloud" is definitely new to me! Mrs. White has been trying to help me. Hopefully I will be able to figure out the issue soon and get back to my photo posts! We had such a fun day in science learning all about lava the the different types of volcanoes. Students explored the question, "Why do some volcanoes explode?" In order to find out the answer we looked and thick and thin lava. Students also had fun mixing vinegar and baking soda to make an "explosion." |
