Thank you to everyone who purchased or brought in items for our class to conduct our science activity with this week. Students learned that the higher the rollercoaster hill, the more energy a car has. They made roller coaster hills and tried to make "bumper coasters" using marbles.

Last week we began learning about energy. Students made rubber band racers and they learned that the rubber band what what gives these racers their energy.
This week we used base ten blocks to learn about fractions with a denominator or 10 and 100 and how fractions are related to decimals. Students learned about tenths and hundredths. They learned how to make equivalent fractions as well as adding and subtracting fractions with one denominator of 10 and one of 100.
The students were given the task of creating a 2 foot tall tower made only out of index cards and a foot of tape. Their tower had to be sturdy enough to hold a small stuffed animal on the top of it.
In science the students learned more about sound. They used balloons to help them demonstrate how sound is vibrations.

We started learning about sound in science last week! Students learned how sound is made from vibrations. They made a paper cup phone and experimented with different variables to see which one works best.
Today students made cards for an organization called Cardz for Kidz. This organization collects homemade cards and send them to children who are in the hospital battling serious illnesses.
